Very easy mini-greenhouse or cold frame, using straw bales and recycled windows or doors.  This is kind of a variation on my straw bale post (Straw Bale Gardening).  Of course both ideas are temporary; the bales will last about two years

That is a great way to grow cantaloupe in northern gardens, btw. ;)

Shoot, it's a great way to grwo anything! The beauty of it is, you can make it as big as you want. Add more bales, more windows, you can grow just about anything. Would be really great for sweet potatoes, as they are heat loving plants and can't be started until June or July around most parts.
