Back to Reality!

Ok, back to the world. The show was a big disappointment, we were edited to make us look like we got nothing done, and here is the big surprise...it did not get picked up for another season. SO, we will go back to writing and chronicling our homesteading adventures. We may even start a youtube channel so those who are interested can watch what we really wanted to share with people; how to be more self sufficient, how to be healthier using food and herbs as medicine, and how to get back to basics.  Our hope was that the show would be more educational, to give viewers the opportunity to learn along with us.  Sadly, the platform was wasted and instead was produced to be a silly drama.

We will keep you posted when and if we choose a new farm name and start a new website. Thinking of changing the name to reflect our updated goals, and new state!  At some point I will write about what REALLY happened behind the scenes of the show, as well as all the things that we accomplished and crazy events that they DIDN'T show you.

Happy spring to all of you!

Thank you for the update. I would enjoy a youtube channel. If you are taking requests, I would love a blog about your daughter's socializing. I have one child at home and the move will be a major change for him.

Terri, thanks for your feedback! We are currently designing a business model and identifying areas of homestead education that have the most interest. We are glad to hear from you! If all goes as planned, a youtube channel will be in the cards. We wish you the best for your move!

Thanks,

Tina

I totally understand what you are going through! I currently have one week left before I have to face reality again that I still have one last semester of college to finish. It really is quite irritating because I have been enjoying my vacation so far. I do not want to go back to school yet. I feel like I could still watch a lot of television series or read a lot of different books that I am still the wife.

Holly, thank you for your comments, and for watching the show! While not as educational as we had hoped, we are looking forward to increasing our reach, to help others learn as we go. We are planning for a youtube channel to be a part of that!

Thanks,

Tina

Did you all move from Elmira? I live in Eugene and enjoyed watching the show and seeing the local images. Sad to see they didn't pick up the show for another season.... Best of luck on any future endeavors.

Hello Tina!
My wife and I were particularly inspired by you and your family's story on the tv show. Never have I been able to relate to someone on the "boob tube" like I did with your husband when he was stressing out over your health! My wife also has RA and Fibromyalgia and degenerative disc disease, etc. She's on tons of meds every day that don't really seem to do much. So I know all too well that feeling of helplessness your hubby was feeling! My wife and I have almost the exact same conversation! We've been wanting to do something similar for several years, me quitting my IT job and getting a small hobby farm to raise organic fruit & veggies, etc. Both of us being from the East Coast never even considered Oregon until your show. But wow is it beautiful! Now I'm hooked, heh. Please do run the Yahoo channel that would be awesome to see how a couple with similar challenges handles living what is still only a dream for us!

I was disappointed in the show as well since I understood why you were wanting to do this! Your family came off looking much better than the other two families, if that makes you feel any better. Hoping your health is improving in the different climate!
I would love to see a YouTube channel from you! I think of you every time I drive out 103rd to Greenwich! :)
