Hi, this is Caroline. I am 9 years old and I have ALWAYS loved animals.  
  I love our new rabbits!! Grace named Holly and I named Tom.  They are very lazy little rabbits.  They hardly even move, but they are still sweet and I love them a lot.  
  I hope Holly has healthy and happy kits.  When she does, Grace and I will sell them and then we will put the money in a jar and save up for the rabbit food.  I hope we can keep at least one of the kits but Mom probably will not let us.  I'm sure we will get to have a few more sometime, though.  Anyway, thanks for reading,

Hello!  This week has been pretty busy for us.. actually the last few months have been pretty busy.  We went to
The State Fair, The Yoder Days Festival, The Mulvane Settler Days, and The Clearwater Festival.  Which is kind of funny, because I never really thought we were festival/carnival people, but maybe we were just ready to get out and do some things other than staying at home and taking care of the animals (no offense sheep, chickens, guineas, and ducks.).  

Anyway, the animals are what I'm supposed to be talking about, right?  Yes.  Okay, I'm gonna tell you about our brand new animals.  My sister and I were at our friend's house, and she had found a sign that said, "Goats for sale".  I bugged her into going to see them, because I'm almost always up for seeing animals, so we drove over there and saw these cute little baby goats.  They were really cheap, and so we hurried back home to call my mom, and once I told her that there was a really cute nubian goat that looked like a deer, and was only fifty dollars, she agreed to come and see them. Ha Ha Ha.  What happened the next day? Well, we had a baby goat in our barn.  Now, when my mom went to see the goats, we found out the little deer goat was only three quarters Nubian and one quarter Lamancha, and my mom wanted a pure Nubian.  Turned out she was okay with it, since they are both milking breeds.  So we loaded our new baby goat in the car, and she rode all the way home on my lap.  The next day turned out to be an even bigger surprise though, because my mom said that our goat needed company and that we would go back and get the other doe for Caroline, and the Nubian could be mine.  Caroline's goat was 3 quarters Lamancha, and 1 quarter Nubian, so she has teeny weeny little ears. 

So after we bought her, we went to Atwoods to buy some goat food, and of course, thay had adorable baby guineas.  My sister, Lily, and I had gone into the store first, and I walked by those birds thinking, "Oh look, Mom was wanting some more guineas, but she probably won't get them from here.".  About 15 minutes later, to my surprise, Caroline was carrying a box of about 10 keets.  So, as you see, we are quite busy this month.  We named our goats Alice and Betty, and they are super cute and sweet.  I never expect our guineas to be sweet though....

  In June, we  added 3 little ones into the family... 2 chicks, and 1 duck.  Caroline, my little sister, has the duck and the chick is mine. The first chick is with his mom so she has him as her own. 
    Here's how it started... One morning, my dad and I were letting the animals out, and while Caroline was out in the barn, my dad was letting out the chickens with me.  So, he let them out and then got out of the coop and did something.. and then he walked into the coop to check on the broody chicken whose eggs were due to hatch anytime.  I followed him in the coop and he looked down at her.. and there he was, our first little chick!  My dad started screaming... but it was only because he was soooo happy, and that we were all sort of doubting that any of them would hatch.  He was a beautiful little thing!  He was brown with a little yellow face and bottom.  Oh gosh, so cute! 
Anyway, Caroline came out of the barn, and we yelled at her to come see him.  My mom and Lily, my older sister, were still sleeping, and so it was just us watching on and off for about an hour.  I just got a plastic chair and put it in the coop so I could sit and watch him come in and out from under his momma. For about a week we were probably checking in at 5 second intervals.. and finally, I walked in and there's an egg cracked almost halfway in the middle, with a tiny, wet, struggling chick hatching out of it. I yelled for everybody to come watch, because none of us had seen this before. I thought it was a little weird that the chicken wasn't sitting on it, and it was, but once it was fully hatched (everyone was watching by this time), she picked it up and threw it.  So my Mom ran in there and grabbed the chick, and we set up a place in my bedroom for him.  AND THEN,  about a week after that, my dad found a duckling running around!  So we moved her in with Pickle (the white chick).  So after that hectic month of bird events, we finally got to settle down and take care of the three of them.  Caroline got to keep the duck that she named Tulula, and I got to keep Pickle.  Now, this is November, and they hatched in June.  I hadn't been writing anything because we are so busy, but I will let you know that Pickle and Tulula are fine.  The first chick grew into a slightly aggressive rooster, so he had to be butchered.  But that's another story!  Anyway, thank you so much for reading!
